Hi Marc,

I have inherited those cars from my deceased husband (he bought them over 25 years ago), the car identifications were made by the court appointed probate referee (no expert on classic cars) in probate.
He identified the blue/white as cab A.  But my husband did mention to me that blue/white was a retired police car which was supposed to be very rare (which is exactly what you have pointed out = Open Touringcar Police model).

I am no expert, I'd highly appreciate your expertise and knowledge.
How much do you think they are worth (roughly, in USD)?

Marc, Yes that was a bit confusing, sorry. I wasn't commenting about two tone paint. I agree that the sedans did not come from the factory with two tone paint.

For what it's worth, I was commenting on the paint code tags. You implied that it was somewhat random as to what cars had plates.  I was suggesting that it may not have been so random, that at a certain point in time they started putting them on. They were on the firewall, but I've never seen any on the frame. On these cars they were attached with screws.

I was trying to establish a few time points for cars that had paint code tags. The two cars I mentioned, I know for sure had paint tags. I mentioned the body type because it dated the car as a late 1953. It actually was 187012-03483/53 and was delivered November 1953. I had always assumed that all the curved windshield cars were 1954-55.

I was wondering if any others might add information about whether they had paint tags or not. I have a 1952 Cab A here that does not, nor did a 1952 170Sb, or a 1950 170S Cab B, that I restored, or a 1952 220 Cab B I used to own.

I've seen many of these cars over the years, but never paid much attention to the paint tag issue unless I was actually painting the car. It's just an impression I have that most of the other cars I have seen up close, usually 1953 or earlier did not have the tags.

Hi.
I now have Kent bergsma  w187 he had.
It is now restored completely.and I am enjoying it's running in for this cars second time around. I have been in contact with the previous owner who  purchased the car in1961. And sent him some photos.he was amazed it is now in the U.K
Being enjoyed again on the road. It achieved best of show award in 2019. Out of approx 900 vehicles entered

I don't know the specifics of the 170S fuel system.  I know there are many similarities with the 220 in general, so I'll proceed as if this was my 220.
There is a screen on the bottom of the fuel pickup line inside the tank. You might also want to inspect that line to make sure there is NOT a hole/crack that might be sucking air above the level of the gas in the tank.
You stated that the fuel pump works.   Is that check by hand, or in the car with the engine being cranked over? 
Does your fuel pump have a thumb lever that you can actuate?  If so, when it is pumped by hand, does gas flow out to the carburetor?
If it works by hand actuation, but not with the engine being cranked, then you would want to check the mechanical actuation from the engine to the pump for proper throw.
Does your fuel system have a valve/filter assy that lets you select between two different lines that lead to the fuel tank? (Two different length pickup tubes, where the longer one is considered the "reserve").
Mine has such a valve, and at one time, I had some issues with the seal inside that valve that had broken and was letting air get sucked into the line and not giving me a full flow of gas under certain loads.

I own a 1950 170S Cabriolet B and it will not start, my mechanic checked everything, the fuel pump works, he blew air through and I removed the gas cap and the air blew through.
Poring gas into the carburetor the car starts until the fuel is exhausted, is there more than one fuel filter in this vehicle, if so where should my mechanic look?
