Headlights for 170
« on: December 31, 2015, 03:32:49 PM »
Can anyone describe the differences between prewar and postwar headlights for the 170 series.  Particularly size variations.  Are parts interchangeable?  Thanks

Prewar 170 have same diameter, but not so deep bulb and housing. So the body and reflector parts are not interchangeable. The glass and the chrome ring could be used. Be careful if the headlights are bosch or hella because the chrome rings do not have the same fitting (body is little different based on that characteristic).

Hi,

And the 170V/Va/Vb foot has three bolts.
The 170S foot has two bolts.

Happy New Year from Sweden!

I have to disagree. The pre-war 170 V and the 170 S, SD, S-V and S-D have the same size deeper bucket headlights. The post-war 170 V, Va Vb series had a shallower bucket.
