Starter problem after installation of new battery
« on: March 08, 2009, 10:06:35 AM »
I am facing a new issue with my starter. I just installed my new optima battery today. The car starts but when the ignition key turns back it switches off. I have to hold the key in the start position for it to work. What could the problem be?

I did not have this problem with the old battery.

I am confused, your key should remain in the drive position and it is the pushbutton on the left side of the steering wheel that should engage the starter.  Turning the key to the other two positions is supposed to turn off the engine.  Do you have a different configuration?
