Mercedes 170 DaOtp

Curiously enough, this is the same source offering the 170S/DS also presented today .

What's the little flag on the fender? Anyone recognize it?

Citroen had some unusual colors for its 1930s era roadsters versus the regular cars, which makes me wonder if this car color is one of the cellulose-based bright offerings of pre-war origin.

Henry?Jim? Des? John? Anybody?

I have seen some Mercedes 1930's roadsters with a similar color, but don't know if they were original to the car.

The OTP would not have been painted this color, they were normally painted green in most parts of Germany or blue for the Berlin police.   Very little chrome on the OTP, and in fact the bumpers were painted body color.  The interiors were black vinyl as well as the tourer style (tourenwagen) convertable tops.

Not that it counts for anything but this OTP appears to be the same colour as this:

1939 Mercedes-Benz 290

Here is a factory photograph of a 170Da OTP.  Obviously a B&W picture but notice how little chrome there was.
