That is an extremely nice automobile. Does anyone have any idea what the value of this car is? Stephen

so we can keep the photos and info:

1942 Mercedes 320 Cabriolet D Same Owner Since 1951 NR!

This car was sold new February 26th, 1942 to Ulm, Germany. It is a factory body made in Sindelfingen, very similar in styling to 500K and 540K of same period but with a  6 cylinder motor.

Great-grandpa brought it back from Germany after World War II in 1951 and it has been garaged and kept roadworthy since then. He only drove it once per year in the 4th of July parade. I just drove it 11 km today to prove the previous statement (see photo of odometer). It has factory wire wheels which is a very rare option. It also has the optional spot light on drivers window post. The back of the spotlight is a rear view mirror the on/off switch for the spotlight. It also has a heater with fan that works as well. Its original radio is included, but not installed in the car.  It has 6 new Bedford Coach 700-750 tires. Grandpa was a stickler that everything on the car should be kept operational as intended. The motor runs good, the brakes work, all the lights work, I took a picture of the gauges with the motor running.  It is a 4-speed with overdrive. All the glass is good, and the front V windshields each crank out which feels like A/C when you're driving in the summer. The interior trim wood is in excellent condition. The windshield wipers operate. The horns honk loud.

The paint is old and will need restored. It is still the original top and headliner and they have suffered somewhat from age. The 70 year old leather amazingly is still in very good soft and supple condition and could be redyed to be perfect. The chrome is all original and needs re-plated. The carpets are original and still in good condition, and would make perfect patterns for a replacement set. The exhaust system is still original and in good condition. The car smokes a little bit when you are driving it, but I think all cars from the 40's did. It rides like a 4500 lb car should, and you don't feel any bumps in the road. The car still has its original set of keys, also still has its original jack, jack handle, lug wrench, and original owners manual and parts manual. The owners manual is in English and the parts manual is in German.

It was just appraised for $200,000, and described as a survivor. The car has no rust through anywhere, the structural wood is in very good condition. We are starting the auction at 25% off appraised value indicating our desire to complete a sale this month. I also included a picture from Mercedes-Benz factory of the original komission paperwork from when the car was ordered new.

THIS IS A VERY RARE CAR. ENJOY IT AS IT APPRECIATES.
Call Paul with any questions: 614-332-3796.
Car is also advertised locally, seller reserves right to end auction early if sold.
