Here at Masterpiece we see some of the finest classics in the world roll through our showrooms. Sometimes you can take it all too much for granted if you work here and pass by them every day. Still, every once in a long while a car comes in that we stop and admire each time we pass by her. On offer today is such a masterpiece.

This 1934 Mercedes Benz 290 Cabriolet was just traded in on a 7 figure Duesenberg and rivals some of the best examples ever created. Produced from 1933 to 1936 this model helped define Mercedes Benz.

The ultimate, spare no expense full restoration was commissioned to world renown Levine Restorations and completed in 2000. The car has been maintained meticulously since and shows to the same level as in 2000. Many awards have been bestowed on her since completion including a 2001 Pebble Beach Award, second in class.

The legendary black paint appears to have seen no more than a week of sunshine to say nothing of a drop of water. The 290ís chrome, glass and every single fitting, knob and switch is as new. The leather interior is perfectly tailored and correct in every way. The interior is welcoming and once inside you will find the most comfortable 30ís era carriage known. That famous Mercedes fragrant leather treats its occupants to perhaps the highest sensory experience available. The top can be down, the windows lowered and yet, remarkably, the aroma still envelopes you.

The fully sorted 2.9 liter six cylinder engine runs like 1934, or perhaps even better and is as reliable as the famous marquis reputation. The transmission shifts flawlessly and effortlessly providing passengers with a boulevard smooth ride indeed.

This rare example features some relatively unique features like rear suicide doors alongside conventional front doors. She also sports a folding rear luggage bed and many other interesting and short lived enhancements.
