Carl,
I have an extra headlight switch mechanism but it would not include the lever and spacer since they are different from my 170Vb.  Contact me off line if you are interested.

Does anyone have a photo or drawing of this switch and its parts?  I have some odds and ends but I have no idea if correct for 170S.

John, Thanks.
Apparently what I have will not be of any help.
Is that a light bulb in the center of the switch/handle?

The 170S switch has a light bulb in center of the switch.

Yes it is a very small light bulb, and activated when the high beams are on.

I always thought that the 170S and 220 were the same switch with different knobs.  But you are correct, the 170S and 220 are different on the knob side because these models have a pull out feature for engaging the fog lights in the first position, and do not have the internal high beam indicator bulb.

Carl, it appears that my extra switch wouldn't work for your 170S .... sorry.

Lars,
Is your model a 170S or 170Sb?

John

Mine is a 170Sb 1953. It has the same headlight switch as 220/W187, without a light bulb.
