Ron, I believe that the RHD cars had a downdraft carburetor. I don't think the updraft will clear the steering column. Also had a fuel pump on the side of the engine.

Yes the modifications were done at Sindelfingen
This car is also menthioned in Werner Oswalds Mercedes book.

As Ron mentioned, it was originally sold to someone in Java and they returned it to the factory for modification after the war.
