Parts wanted
« on: June 22, 2013, 10:41:10 AM »
I have found a few part numbers for the 320 that I am looking for.
The front brake cylinders are 59 6851, I would like to get rebuild kits or new cylinders
The rear brakes cylinders re 59 7151, Same as above

I need a junction block for the lubrication system, 92 3511
the lat item for now are the rubber corners for the engine cover, 470 0078

Anyone know where to find these?

Thanks,
Chris

Have the brake cylinders resleeved in stainless at Brake and Equipment Warehouse  612-378-3141. The reline shoes too. The wheel cylinder cups are standard inch dimensions. The master kit I'm not sure about but Brake and Equipment may have a master kit or you could get a German kit by size. The master is 1 1/4" You should get new hoses if they are older than 12-15 years. You may want to try Jim Friswold at Vintage Mercedes parts 503-639- 1158. He may have the kits and hoses. Maybe the hood corners too, but you also might see if the 170 V corners are close and they are available from the usual German suppliers. Jim may have those too, but since each variety of hood has different angles you might have to adapt.
You should post a picture of the junction block. This is the right side, correct?

I have some junction blocks for the central lubrication system, but I don't know specifically what  part number 92 3511 looks like.  Do you have a picture?

The rebuild kits should be available.  These are the same part numbers used on the pre-war 170V.  The fronts should be 1" diameter and the rear cylinders 7/8".

Current rebuild kit numbers:
  • front cylinder - MB #000 586 17 42; ATE #03.0470-0525.2 (060038); or FTE RK25313K
  • rear cylinder  - MB #000 586 16 42; ATE #03.0401-0222.2 (060035); or FTE RK2231K

Here are pictures of spare manifolds that I have.  They are all Willie Vogel.  Would also need to know the size of the pressure chambers (they are numbered on the top).

John, he is talking about 320. I think the pre-war central lube parts are different, and the 320 wheel cylinders are bigger, 1 1/4" also.

Thanks for the info on the brakes. I purchased a new master cyl and it is being shipped. It is 1 1/4.
the car is a 1940.
The photo is on the existing front left junction and the missing front right. I am not sure of pressures for the missing one. More research.

Thanks,
Chris

Henry,

I don't know about the central lube parts, that's why I sent pictures of what I have.  The only thing that I can see different from the picture that Chris sent is that my manifolds have a DIN part number stamped on the top which would be post-war.

With regard to the brake wheel cylinders, the MB pre-war part numbers that Chris listed for the 320 are identical to the part numbers for the pre-war 170V (see pdf below).  I too would think that they would be different considering the vehicle weights.

The larger brake shoes maybe the difference in the cars. The diagram you posted is the same one in my 320 manual.

The full numbers for the 320 wheel cylinders are 2959 6851 and 2959 7151 from the parts book. I don't know why that picture in the owner's manual gives a truncated number.  I can check the central lube part on one of my 320's and the 170 V we are working on, the casting looks the same. The prewar distributor design is a little different internally and I don't know if they are interchangeable with the postwar type.

Mystery solved.  From the parts book, the full number for the 170V wheel cylinders are 13659 6851 (front) and 13659 7151 (rear).  It too was shortened in the owner's manual which was the attachment in my last post.
