Star on Radiator shroud
« on: June 22, 2013, 12:35:11 PM »
I have been looking at different photos of 170 cars. Most of what I see is the rad cap with the star on it. My rad cap on the 36 170 is under the hood. The star is a mount on the shroud. Is this version available?

Hello Chris,

The star is correct for the 1936 170v
It is verry rare and may be a problem to find a new star.
The called it the shipsstar

Same here, mine has that type or radiator and star. I mean, that kind of radiator and missing star  :) Probably will have to make the base part.

Here is the original parts list page with star.  Is the base and star one piece?

This brings up another question. How do I get a parts book?

This is the Ausgabe B book, but just the parts are scanned, no text: http://www.170v.de/yabbfiles/Attachments/Teilekatalog_170V_W136_vorkrieg_deutsch.pdf

And the A, full version, scanned from a photocopy though: http://www.mercedes170v.tabacaria.com.pt/docs/MB170V_Ersatzteiliste_Ausg_A_1936.pdf

And more documents from the same site: http://www.mercedes170v.tabacaria.com.pt/indexDocs.htm
