w18 290 Brakes
« on: November 15, 2013, 12:27:59 PM »
Hello,

After dreaming of 170  I bought a 290.

I have changed the brakepumps because there was oil on the rear wheels. But the oil was not from the brakes but from the bridge.

Can someone tell me how I have to remove the "three" so that I can remove the" axle" and fit it whit a new cover..

The cover should also be changed even as the cabme and cover from the handbrake.

Where can I find these parts in Europe?

Thanks,
Hans

I don't know the 290, but is a split boot similar to the 170/220 boot available?  It sure would make the job a lot easier.  I would be happy to measure the end diameters and boot length on my 170Vb so you can see if they are possibly the same.

Not sure what you mean by tree and borage? With a split boot you shouldn't have to remove anything else.

When you went from a 170 dream to a 290 dream, you needed to dream about having more money. I'm sure you will find everything a lot more expensive.  Gunter Jelinek sometimes has some 290/320 items http://www.mercedes-jelinek.de/index.php Also maybe Julia Lange-Hitzblech, but I can't find her contact info right now. Anybody?
