170Da diesel line
« on: May 05, 2014, 09:44:51 AM »
Over the weekend, I tried to get my OTP running. I realized that one of my diesel lines was leaking. I tried Mercedes and Niemoller without success. I need a diesel line, #56  in the attached picture. The part number is 636 078 03 25. Thanks Stephen

I doubt the part will be available since it goes through MB. I have been able to order this part 3 times from various MB vendors only to be told NLA. But thanks John, Stephen

Can Henry Magno make this if you have the original?  It is basically a hose with bent pipe ends and banjo connections.

I don't know. I was thinking of taking it down to Hose-Man and see if they can make it .

I can probably make it. I may have to re-use some of the fittings. What is the ID of the hose do you know?

You can send the hose if you like.

When I had a broken fuel line several years ago, I was able to order a complete matched set of lines from PAULS AUTO HAUS.  They were from Germany, and were of a very high quality.  I replaced the entire set, because if one leaks, the others will leak eventually!

I could be wrong but I believe Paul's Auto Haus is no longer in business.

I took the plunge and crawled under my 170 and removed the leaking diesel line.  Fortunately, there is a Hose-Man 12 miles away and they were able to make the line for only $50.

Looks like they did a great job.  Price is probably half of what MB would want if they had one.

It looks as if I had Hose-Man do all mine lines except that one. I am not sure why I didn't get it done at the time. Hopefully, I will get the 170 running again.

I usually charge $ 30 to make up a hose. I guess it's time to raise my prices. I use the German hardware so they look original.
