1940 320 transmission
« on: October 20, 2014, 07:16:44 PM »
I am trying to locate information on what transmission I have in the car. I have not found a number on the unit yet. Ultimately I want to find technical information and possible parts if needed in the future. I hope not.

Thanks
Chris

It's a ZF AK4 S20 with "Ferngang" overdrive. You do need to hope that you don't need parts. I doubt you would find any. I would not take it apart if you don't have to. A few years back I did a ZF from a 230, essentially the same design and it was a difficult job. It did have a lot of problems and came to me apart, so that was a factor. Fortunately I had other transmissions to disassemble, compare and take parts from.

Thank you Henry for the info. My trans is not fitted with an overdrive.
