engine color

what color was used on the engines for circa 1950 170S????
In cleaning mine I found remnants of a dark yellowish color, is this original?
ready to paint it grey, but waiting to here back from you guys before I do,....would like to keep it original, if possible.

huh, wonder why the original paint was yellowish - perhaps an earlier restoration by a farmer who owned a cub cadet?
