I don't have those side turn indicators, buy some general electrical troubleshooting would apply.
I assume there is a way to remove it. I would use a Volt Meter to first verify that there is voltage (or a ground signal) being applied across the component when it should be activated. That way you can determine if the fault is in the device, or in the wiring going to the device.
